The 5's showed continued promise but lost to a very good Ashford side.
Bay started well from the off playing a high line but came under some pressure a little into the game and found it difficult against some suspiciously skilled young Ashford players (some of which may even be spotted in earlier games of the day!) The 5's fell victim to a good short corner. 1-0 to Ashford. However, they fought back with a spirited performance in attacking midfield and equalised through the goal-a-game man Andrew Harrison with a good strike to the roof of the net after a great pass into the D from Tim Freeman. 1-1. After a few minutes of stalemate hockey that is how the first half ended.
Into the second half and Ashford started well scoring early on in the second period. 2-1 to Ashford. Bay continued after to absorb decent pressure and had intermittent glances at goal as the game continued but unluckily conceded again. Despite central defender Matthew Bates' best efforts going forward for a late short (think the ball just hit the International Space Station) that is the how the game ended.
MOTM from a spirited performance goes joint to Andrew Harrison for his brilliant strike and Isaac Bates for a solid performance in defence. Shoutout to Casey Hazel making his first appearance marked with a good performance
